Hmmm...interesting. And it is numbers like those that support why I didn't renew my NLA membership.

From civics lessons in high school, I recall Democrats supporting bigger government, and to me this translates into higher taxes and more regulation.

Dems do support bigger goverment, higher taxes, and don't forget higher energy costs. If Obama gets his cap-and-trade bill passed you can forget the limo business. The Dems idea to end our dependency on fossil fuels is to make the cost so high we won't want to use it. Obama is on record stating that.

How much, and to whom, were the NLA's donations when the Republicans had control of "The Hill"? Is it possible that the NLA tends to support those who currently are in power?

According to the website the NLA PAC made no donations prior to the 2008 election cycle. Probably because the NLA had no PAC before this cycle.

Now the TLPA has had a PAC for awhile & it looks as though (minus the party benefiting) the NLA is playing follow the leader again.

NLA Members can decide for themselves if they agree where the funds went & if this represents their ideology.

And of course, if you're going to pad someone's pocket, wouldn't it make sense to pad whose ass you're kissing to try and push a Bill through vice blowing it on Billy's Wife?

Default Must Suck To Be Romjue

With LCT Editor Martin Romjue spitting out these type writings inbetween his beating of the lowly PRIUS (I Lost Count), it must really suck to know that the one's holding the short chain (NLA) attached to his journalistic collar contributed 98% to the party whose policies he shows absolute contempt for:

"OBAMA HOME STATE ECONOMY WRECKED: Hotel occupancy DROPS 75% IN HAWAII in February, usually the state's busiest month. So what's the choice strategy of desperation among state leaders? Why, appeal to President Obama, the state's most famous native son, for some PR stimulus. But he's the same President whose administration and political party have so demonized corporate and business travel that hotel, resort, travel, hospitality, and chauffeured transportation industries are suffering, not just in Hawaii, but across the board. Where's the hope bro, and can you spare some change for your home state?"

    Default Gallup On Unions

    March 17, 2009
Majority Receptive to Law Making Union Organizing EasierBut most Americans not closely following news about union bill in Congress

PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Poll finds just over half of Americans, 53%, favoring a new law that would make it easier for labor unions to organize workers; 39% oppose it. This is a key issue at stake with the Employee Free Choice Act now being considered in Congress.

The poll reveals sharply differing reactions to the issue within the general public according to political orientation. Most Democrats** (70%) say they would favor a law that facilitates union organizing, while a majority of Republicans (60%) say they would oppose it. Independents lean in favor of such a law, 52% vs. 41%.

As originally proposed, the 2009 Employee Free Choice Act (in its House and Senate versions) strengthens the "majority signature" or "card check" basis for union organizing by automatically unionizing any workplace in which a majority of workers have signed a union authorization card. The act would eliminate employers' ability to call for secret-ballot elections (although employees can still call for one), and would make changes to enforcement of labor protections and contract-settlement procedures. Thus far, the proposal has not been a prominent item in the mainstream national news; however, it has sparked fierce union-versus-business debate in Washington and appears headed toward a close vote in the U.S. Senate.

** Recipients of 98% of NLA PAC Contributions were the Democratic Party

    Default Off The NLA Website

Speaking Up on the Employee Free Choice Act
    April 1, 2009
If you want to indicate your opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act (H.R. 1409, S. 560), you may use this letter to do so.

Better yet, ADAPT the letter to express your opinion in your own words.

If you donít already know your Congressmanís name and/or fax number, see the U.S. Chamber of Commerce website at http://capwiz.com/chamber/home.

While youíre on the site, check out the other information about this issue and others significant to business owners.

Yet the NLA PAC donated 98% to the Party which supports this

Default This Should Give LCT's Martin Romjue Something To Write About

    NLA PAC Fund

    http://www.limo.org/member-resources/nla-pac-fund.aspx

Right now the National Limousine Association is fighting more legislative abuses and regulatory infringements than ever before in the history of the organization.

    • Unfair competition >>> AVIS/WeDriveU proliferation (ouch, this hurts most operations)
    • Discriminatory airport and seaport fees >>> RIDE Act violations (Really, Who violates the RIDE Act? The NLA screwed the pooch the first time around & now Miami wants them to fix it (include intrastate transfers))
    • Threat to free enterprise itself >>> Employee Free Choice Act (Like the GM of a NLA Director opposing new market entry? Better yet, try to get sedan permits in NLA's Prez Ron Sorci's hometown of Miami )
    • Risk to company survival >>> Ban on TARP recipient travel/meetings (98% NLA PAC delivered to Party that supports this)
    • Inequitable vehicle sales tax >>> Gas Guzzler (Snore........ As with the RIDE Act, the NLA farked the 1st one up whereas only non-CMC/QVM sedan stretches qualify for exemption)

However, still other costs – ones deemed absolutely critical to success, i.e. support of those lawmakers who champion the causes of chauffeured transportation – cannot be paid by the general fund or by volunteerism. Rather, as dictated by federal regulations, they must – and can only be – paid by the personal funds of NLA members.

23% of NLA PAC Contributions was directed to Hillary Clinton

Was Secretary of State Hillary a champion of chauffeured transportation?

Default Gas Guzzler Dead, RIDE Act In Limbo

Word is that the NLA's 2 most prized legislative endeavors are going nowhere for now.

    The IRS has declined to give administrative relief to the gas guzzler issues & therefore another long march to legislatively attempt a repeal of this tax will have to be put into play and;

the RIDE Act is in limbo waiting for reintroduction

Keep sending those contributions to the NLA PAC, the Democrats need the extra dollars.............

At least we know that the NLA (Sorci) will be working hard as a political enforcer to clean up Florida's regulating bodies and HR lawsuits.

Maybe for the next election we can get someone from Pennsylvania to be the next President of the NLA so we can get the PPA and PUC under wraps.
