I recently had a problem getting my gearshift into drive,or any position for that matter, after screwing around for about half hour diddling the key in the ignition it finally went into drive.Next day same thing, off to my mechanic to check it out, seems if the brake light switch fails the car wont go into drive.Did you know that? Well now you do! so remember for the future, before you call the tow truck, check your brake lights.

That is a mileage related issue on certain year cars.

Bram, this is how you probly got it into drive:

Also on the issue of the Switch / Interlock failing. This is good information to have anyway, should let all your drivers and dispatchers know about this one. It will save you when you do have that VIP at the airport.

Switch is broken (cannot get it out of park)
    1. Turn Off Engine
    2. Turn Ignition Switch to the first click (no power or nothing)
(maybe have the parking brake set at this point)
    3. Drop Gear shift into Neutral
    4. Start Engine
    5. Drop Into Drive
