Well the economy has finally hit my Limo Services In NYC. Last week I was operationg at a clear 98% increase in sales over last years numbers. Now We have come to a screeching halt. How are all of you doing in your biz and what do you all think? Thank god for my NYC Lincoln Town Car Service which is what all my private clients exclusively use.

Before you blame the economy; what are you doing to market or publicise your self? YOu talk about another side of your business too... is it the retail side that had dropped off or stand business?

Los Angles has experienced the same thing. The best thing you can do is watch your overhead. If for any reason you are spending money on things you may not need or you are using fuel that is out of the normal percentage that is unusual (watch that amount)you either need to charge an additional sur charge or make sure your employees are not ripping you off! My point is spend your time watching your money. Your market will rebound! You need to continue to market your company but watch the overhead!

I think the next year or two will really separate the wheat from the chaff. Those operating close to the edge with a high debt ratio may well go over.

The ads for limos for sale for "payoff or take over payments" are already showing up. Not a good sign; folks are starting to struggle.

A few really bad months in a row can ruin those types of operations. I wanted to add cars this year, but I'm holding off. I like not having any debt with regard to my operation when seriously bad times are on the horizon.

I’m not running scared, just being conservative until I feel the economy is moving forward; when that time comes, I’ll be in a good position to expand if the demand is there.

That’s my opinion, but I was a Liberal Arts major, so take it for what it is worth.

Almost everyone I have spoken to has noticed a huge drop in the last two weeks. Ever notice how business slows when the stock market goes down?

Some of the Big black car corporate niche companies in Toronto area are adding stretch suvs and limo buses to their fleets to go after weddings and socials. Full circle I guess

I think it has something to do with people getting they tax money. Everyone is still waiting. Yes, last week was pretty slow but it picked up already. I seem to have a lot of Casino Trips.

So maybe people got their tax money already.

Good luck to all of you guys. I'm just trying to watch my overhead like Hartson said and wait til things get better. But what I'm really hoping for is that all the guys in san diego that are in the limo business as a side venture, get sick and tired of all this BS and sell their limos(hopefully out of town). Then the guys like me can start charging regular prices again. But it really saddens me to see hard working people going under.

I agree with Geoff. This is going to be a long hard winter and lots of people are going to close up shop especially all the little mom and pop shops. Good for those of us who will make it through!

My A/P runs have dropped through the floor, not a single call in weeks now. The retail side is still keeping me going on the weekends but that's about all I've been getting lately. The phone just hasn't been ringing like it used to.

I'm really putting a lot of hope in the bus getting me through the winter season with the college crowd.

I have only seen a mimimal decline in hourly reservations and my wedding business has been in line with last years numbers. I agree with First Class that it will be a long hard winter for many of the smaller companies out there especially those that concentrated most of their operation on providing only one type of service.

Our of curiousity have most of you seen the most dramatic drops in your reservations come from your corporate and airport runs?

WOO-HOO ! I just landed an airport run for today !!

Pretty bad when one airport run excites me. Guess I need to blow the dust off of the sedan.

    Congrats Digger.

I've only got one run this week until saturday. But it's my numero uno VIP. My favorite client in the world. I just have to figure out who's gonna drive me for my bday tomorrow. You're all invited. Sushi on a Roll at 7pm and then bar hopping in the limo.

I have the bus booked for this Friday and the 10-pack booked for Saturday night... I'd like to get a few more bookings and keep my other driving running too.
