Default Driver for Ultimate Class Limo, Long Island, Indicted Criminal Negligent Manslaughter

The driver for Ultimate Class Limo who pulled a U-turn into oncoming traffic which resulted in 4 deaths has been charged by the grand jury. This accident has spawned a call by a top US Senator for safety tests on the crashworthiness of stretch limos:

"Carlos Pino also was charged with four counts of assault, reckless driving and other crimes in the July 18 crash in Cutchogue that killed Brittney Schulman, Lauren Baruch, Stephanie Belli and Amy Grabina, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota."

"Witnesses who testified before the grand jury, including a driver and three passengers waiting behind the limousine in an eastbound turning lane on Route 48, stated that Mr. Pino attempted to make a U-turn at the Depot Lane intersection despite having a “limited sight line,” Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said. A westbound Jeep Liberty attempting to make a left-hand turn off Route 48 to head south on Depot Lane obstructed Mr. Pino’s view, he said. Despite this, Mr. Pino attempted to make the U-turn without ever coming to a full stop, the DA added."

I often believe that any transport for hire above a sedan capacity should require a commercial license and specialized training.

Default If it was Uber v. a Limo Driver charged with manslaughter due to reckless driving

The Limo Industry would be plastering this on various sites 24/7 .

    Default Uber Vs Limo

You are right! I used to drive for Uber, but now I'm against it. For me,it is simple.Uber drivers that do not have the proper insurance to transport people are operating illegal. That's it.
So every time I hear something bad about Uber,I want people to know about it,but just like you said, this stuff happens to all drivers, not just Uber.
If Uber has it's way, they will corner the market and put people out of business so they can begin to raise their rates. That's just my opinion. From what I've read, they are supporting business in China with earnings from the US.They are willing to continue in their pursuit to corner the market their as well. That is pretty scary and some proof that they are attempting to become the international way of transportation.
I don't know if I will be able to grow my business against rates that are ridiculously low. I just try to cut a few dollars off,but I have to stick as close as I can to my pricing.
    Good luck Sir

Eric, So you want TNCs in Jersey to carry liability like the 30k taxis are required to? Look to limo influencers of politicians for your high operating costs.

Not to take any blame away from the driver, but humans are inherently flawed and until google driver less limo becomes a thing, accidents will happen. We encourage our drivers to pre-plan all their routes and here in Miami we are generally going to the same places and know all the risky intersections etc... However the unexpected happens and sometimes it just takes a single bad decision to cause so much harm.
