ECB Excursion A/C issue, any help?
Hello guys,
5 months into this excursion now having an A/C issue. 05' excursion ECB. The driver area works fine the coach area also just fine, only issue is the REAR in the VIP area where the air comes from the 4 holes in the ceiling.
Took it to the a local A/C guy and he said it was the excursion factory expansion valve in the rear right panel. So bought OEM expansion valve and replaced it, (it was nightmare removing the trim, rear vip seat and getting to this valve). still didnt fix the issue. the air from the ceiling is not cold ..
now the A/C guy told me it is electrical so went to an auto electric guy and now after some testing he said the relay that controls the rear AC has problem, everytime the rear ceiling AC is turned on the fuse is blown and the liquid line solenoid valve is sending too much AMP(17 amp). So he is telling me to change the liquid line solenoid valve 12v and change the relay on the main circuit board(from ECB) behind the console. He also told me that the condensor fan is also not working and that could be dangerous.
I am not sure at this point if i should let them change the original relay from ECB and work on the circuit board. Should mention that when the AC mechaninc connected a wire directly from the battery and powered the back A/C unit, the rear AC works fine. So any one has any idea suggestion would be very much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I would switch to a different relay on the board or bypass it with a stand alone relay

The condensor fan will help keep the freon colder and help make the system not work as hard. As far as the VIP area, Bigdan's advice sounds good to me.

Do you have seperate controls for the vip section.
I strongly believe that the vip section is still a factory system. I would check the factory fuses and relays first.
