Your Experience with Saturn, Ground Global (Formerly GT3) or any other GDS?

Has anyone here ever tried or actually used something like Saturn, Sabre or other GDS Reservations? We are looking into it right now but wondering if its worth it or not? We are still a small sized company and currently use Limo Anywhere. Any input will be appreciated..

We recieve reservations on it from some travel agencies and Corporate travel departments. We just got the trip info off there all billing was done through our own reservations software (LA). We would get an email when a trip came in for us and those folks like to see a confirmation number in like 5 mimutes!! That system has them spoiled!

I think we only did it because some of our customers required it of us. We just used the web interface to get the info. Easy enough system.

You can really take advantage of it by entering all your rates so people can get an immidiate reservation estimate. But we had mostly flat rate zone system and it was to much work. Our folks really did not even care about the rates on the Saturn System because they had negociated ones with us already.

With Odyssey and a Saturn account it pulled directly from your own rate table and you could accept the reservation instantly. There was an extra $1500 fee to setup the Saturn account and $1.25 per reservation accepted from Saturn. This worked well because Odyssey used Transponet which is the switch that they all go through. All other reservation systems had to be in putted manually. If you are heavy into Saturn reservations you really need to use their software which is Odyssey now called Voyageur Reserve.

Don't suppose they have lowered the cost of it with the new name? Think we were looking at 30K after all the UNIX servers and workstations added up.

But if you want to corner the travel industry it is a must.

Thank you Steve and Wade, I really appreciate the prompt and useful info. @Steve, the rate they told me for Saturn is $500.00 (Set Up), $50 monthly and $4.10 per reservation and $1.00 per Farm-In/Out job. They are going to get to me with the rates for Voyageur Reserve..
