I am considering leasing a Sedan Permit for Miami Dade as an independent owner operator. Does anyone have any tips on to succeed in this market?

Have you been able to secure a Miami Dade County permit. We have some but are currently in use, Over the last few months we have noticed a marked uptick in calls from other companies who want to lease/purchase our permits. What is going on? Do you all know something and are holding back on me

people want to buy them and get into business for themselves, they dont want to pay more than $20K to purchase and dont want to pay more than $200 per month for lease, thats why they are still driving for other people because no one wants to sell/lease for those prices Yes there is a demand but offers to purchase/lease are too low, I sold mine this month

you cannot succeed in this business in Miami because there are too many regulations, red tape, expensive insurance, customers can't afford the service, dead summer and fall (july-december) during these months there is practicaly no business unless your rates are 50% less than usual, this is the worst business to get into now in Miami and in general South Florida, unless you have affiliates and brokers from out of state who will give you minimum 30 airport jobs weekly per vehicle, out of 300 limo companies in South Florida maybe 10 are succesful and making a true profit, everyone else is just getting by and paying bills only!

This sounds absolutely ridiculous!!! I have to ask why haven't you all gotten together and swarm the city hall with petitions, or even protests? They have to have a reason to justify having a business to spend that kind of money to "operate"! That is insane!!

I learned something a while ago, a small guy can never win against a big guy, especially if there arent any funds for legal representation, and the government knows that, they have lawyers on staff so they dont care how long does a trial or legal proceeding last, the small operators are not complaining fearing retaliation, govrnment is a big player they can crush anyone anytime, they are more powerfull than any mafia out there(if any) in Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) is even worst, the commissioners made a law saying that only 1 luxury sedan permit is to be issued for every 5000 residentsso no permits were issued in the past 15 years, and the rates arent regulated so there are unlicensed uninsured operators charging half of the rate, again no soliciting, jobs must be prearranged 1 hour, trip sheet is mandatory, vehicle must be up to 5 years old, to lease the permit is $300-400 per month or to purchase it cost $25-30.000 its the worst business to be in right now, I wish I can get out of it and be able to do something else
