Is yours a family business?

I am looking for at least three companies that are family operated. Specifically I am interested on someone that has either taken over the business from their parent(s) OR someone who plans to hand over the reins to a child in the future - either long range or in the near future.

My wife and I started limo business in 2007 with the purchase of Connecticut LTK-120from the ACC, with 240 thousand miles. Since then decide together how and what to do.However, on the orders and business meetings go by himself. ) Now this is the mainsource of income.

Good to hear guys (and Marlo) but I need subjects who took over from their parents or parents who will give to a child. That is the focus. Not couples running a business.

Jim, I'm sure you know that I used to work with my grandmother, father, and aunt before I left and started my own thing.

We are a family business, my parents will be moving back to Wisconsin soon and leaving me with all the headaches, I mean, all the wonderful things that come with running a business! They will still own their portion but will more than likely be semi-retired, coming down to TX during the winters and spending the summers up in WI.

We are also a family run business- we started 5 years ago when our son was an infant. One day we hope to have him involved, eventually (if he chooses) we hope he will take it over. At this point he is our main wheel-washer! He pretends to answer the phone and even laughs at what his "pretend" clients want- ex: "you want a hummer for one hour during prom season- hahahaha!" He is a little wise-guy.
