Default Senator Latvala's Taxi Law Hurts Senior Citizens Needing Intercounty Transportation

Latvala has a bill working a bill through Tallahassee which will allow locals to designate taxicab permits as medallions.

As medallions, regulators will auction them off & award them to the highest bidder. Talk in Hillsborough (Tampa) is that cabbies will be given XX amount of years to pay the bid off.

With the Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission in charge of issuing the medallions, the millions of dollars in receipt will not go into any general fund but will stay with this independent district coffers.

Consumers, especially Senior Citizens, reliant on contracted private motor carriers for intercounty transport to and from Tampa International Airport as well as the other interstate hubs in Tampa will be burdened with carrying the economic fallout of Latvala's ill conceived law.

The HCPTC has already initiated unequal economic regulation to stack the odds in favor of the Tampa taxicabs like insurance minimums 3 times that of taxicabs as well as setting the minimum pricing senior citizens must pay. Expect more economic stacking to ensure that cabbies have as much potential as possible to make the medallion note payments filling the HCPTC's coffers.

Don't be surprised to see the HCPTC imposes $90 minimum price regulations like they do in Miami to fatten the taxicab & HCPTC wallets at the expense of the consumer.

Default Latvala Refuses To Sponsor Bill To Protect Senior Citizens Transportation Needs

A few months ago we went to Lavala's office with a proposed bill which would amend provisions of law providing a statewide preemption applied to contract motor carriers providing intercounty transportation. Such a law would prohibit VFH regulators from applying economic regulation on motor carriers entering their jurisdiction solely for the purpose of providing intercounty transportation of contracted passengers. .....good old Jack outright refusedto get involved with sponsoring such legislation and now it seems obvious why.

Jack taking in some taxicab payola maybe??

Default Jack Latvala Fails To Advance His Anti-Consumer Taxi Law

The 2011 Florida Legislative Session is over & State Transportation Committee Chair, Senator Jack Lavala, failed to get his anti consumer taxi bill past 1st base.

Not saying that any of my behind the scenes action had anything to do with it.

Jack Lavala joins other Florida politicos here on LDC as individuals attempting to screw over their constituents transportation options and here on LDC means very high placement with the search engines....
