So my latest response was that I think he gave me the wrong cc number. I figure the more time he wastes with me, the less time he has to fraud you guys.

Geoff , When I have time I do the same thing.
Get them to sent you a copy of the card & drivers license or id info.
I usually tell them there is a service charge $1000 - $2000. for providing the
payout service. The price doesn't faze them they think you are going to give them $$$.
String them along as much as you can , start sending them another
scammers info act like you made a mistake.
Tell them something must be wrong with the card it was declined.
Get more cards do the same.
When you get the card # your credit card proscessor can tell what bank it is ,alert the
    bank's fraud dept.
If you really want to waste their time get a pre authorization on the credit card for
$10000 0r $15000 tie up the credit on the card.
Pre authorizations don't cost you any $$$.
You will really be surprised how long these scammers will go back & forth with you
if they think your going to give them the $$$.

They have pretty good english for a scammer, usually its horrible. Who gets the money its almost never someone in the usa. Very funny though the card they had is about 10 minutes away from me. There's a really funny website dedicated to people who screw over those scammers, check it out at http://www.419eater.com/.

Funny thing just happened as I was reading your post. I was wondering why I haven't heard back from the scammer and I just got an email.

Brandon was impressed by the guys english, but his new email says, " The credit card details is correct".

I like Joel's idea about authorizing it for $15,000 to tie it up and stop him from using it on others.

I'd like to report them, but I really don't have time to be stuck on hold and then answering questions.

It's funny that it's so simple to spot them that way.

You boys are sure silly!! Thanks for the laughs, I needed them this AM!
Flat tire on new party bus last night--of course after closing time of all the tire companies who have equipment to even take the tire off the rig, with an 8 am pickup this morning to a ballgame in Oakland. So to laugh about the way you guys give it back to the scammers was a nice relief.

You should have a 24 hour mobile tire repair out your way. We keep a spare tire and then call the mobile guy anthor way to go is a truck stop a lot of them have 24 hour tire shops.

Thanks for the info Jason. Yes, we found a guy who came and fixed the tire at 9:30 last night through the local truck stop. The issue was taking it off. It takes some special socket for the lug nut and tool, and there are no extensions on the valve stems, so we couldn't even air it up and slime it to get it to the truck stop and the repair shops we called didn't work on that big of a tire. But all is good. He made it to the pickup this AM and to the game without any problems. And first thing tomorrow, it goes to the tire shop for extensions, get a spare and the tool and socket for the lug nut to have in the bus for any future issues. We just got the bus a week ago, and hadn't prepared for that issue.
Gotta love this biz to put up with all that's involved--scammers too!

The other big red flag besides bad english is using western union to wire money. Who does that? If there weren't western union or other ways to wire money scammers couldn't operate.
