    Default Audi

I was reading this on the new A8 and was wondering why is Audi not as popular as the Mercedes for sedans? I realize the Lincolns are cheaper in base price and maintenance, but why Mercedes over Audi?

It has always been that way in Europe, Audi make great cars but don't have the prestige that Mercedes has,

We had a small problem with Audi in this country a few years ago, it took a few years to recover.

    Unhappy Woops!

Looked in the back seat of an A8 lately? An XG350 has more room.

    I WAS WRONG.

    Rear headroom: both 38".
Rear legroom: Hyundai 37.2", Audi 37.6".

So, the Audi does have more room - but not by much!

@TBLIMO: Yes, it was a smearing campain resembling the one against Toyota these days. All reported sudden acceleration cases in Audi cars were proven to be due to driver error according to the NHTSA. Even though the cars were the same worldwide, sudden acceleration cases were only reported from the US.
Apart from that, I agree with Myles and Charles, it is a matter of name branding or lacking prestige, but I get the impression that Audi catches up on prestige these days, at least in Europe. Their cars are as good as any other german "premium" car.
But as a fan of US-cars, I will stick with Lincoln, especially when it comes to stretch limos :-)

Audi A8L is more popular and prestigious in Europe than Mercedes all Ministers and politicians are using the Audi as their official vehicle in Europe Audi A8L is the same price as MB S550 but thes ecars are not economicaly fesable to operate in US. because they cost too much , the naintanace cost too much and the price that would be charged to passangers would bee too high comparing to Lincoln or Cadilac
