Hello,

I'm currently working on starting a Limo service in Tampa, Fl.
Very new at this. I am hoping someone can assist me with some of your knowledge in the industry.

1. I'm expecting to start with a rather large limo (Stretch Hummer, Escalade etc. . . ) most likely Brand new or just barely used. Is this a good idea or should I start with a smaller limo. (Chrysler 300, Lincoln Town car Etc. . .) ?

2. What type of License and Insurance will I need? Can you give me an average of what to expect when getting Insurance quotes and what to not say to avoid being denied coverage? I would be hiring a chauffeur so he/she would need the license. Are there any other permits I would need.

3. Is the Limo software really necessary

Please let me know anything you can . I've got the capital and the drive as well a many many connections for business I just need the start up info.

Thank you in advance

Oh Lord. You sure you want to do this?

1st, hit the link in my signature. This is the law for Tampa.

Next go to the HCPTC website & navigate around to you find the application package.
HCPTC (http://www.hillsboroughcounty.org/publictransportation/)

The only saving grace right now is that the asshole ex director is gone & the interim director is supposed to be a decent guy.

Can't give any advise on if a big stretch SUV is the way to go & I don't know if any locals will give you straight facts.

Welcome to the fourm 21

on #1: Read this thread, I dont know if daytona is they same type of market as tampa but it seems the price competition is prtty strong down there for the big limos:
Daytona Limo Post (http://limos.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8786063332/m/1691027084/r/7091079184#7091079184)

on #2. Yes understand the law down there as it is probably the most restrictive in the country, unlucky you you just happen to live in the middle of it.

on #3. Software not an issue until you get to busy you are pulling your hair out. Just set up a nice paper system to work off of in the form of reservation sheets. A contract on a word processor so you can make changes as needed. And utilize a calender somewhere (written on your desk, computer, palm pilot, cell phone) to keep track of your availiblity.

These conections you have? what will they use your limo for? in other words what market are you going to target?
