I recently embarked on the tiresome task of restoring a 1985 Lincoln Town Car Limousine. The two windows that are stationary down the sides of the limousine are in terrible shape and I am having a very hard time removing the trim along the outside of the windows and am having even less luck trying to work from the inside evening though I have the insides gutted out. So my question to those of you reading are how do I remove those windows and what are the technical names for them. Oh and are there any "guides" such as books or a website that I could use to help me rebuild this beauty? Any information would and will help. Thanks.

Depends on the builder, some fit the stretch windows with the cheap rubber surrounds that have what appears to be a chrome strip in the centre, look for the join in the strip and ease it out, you will then be able to carefully pull out the whole "Chrome" bit which should enable you to ease the glass out ( try soapy liquid to make it easyier ) of course the other system used is a proper frame in which case knowing the builder might help as some were fitted differently than others. Most the guys on here will be able to help you on this and point you in the direction of replacement glass also.
Where are you located ?

I have been fooling around with the windows for a while now trying to figure out how to remove them. I have discovered a rubber stip that surrounds the outside of the window but there is trim and steel framing that seems to have it completely enclosed. I'm not worried about tearing things out I have various metal working skills but I do want to keep the work to a minimum considering I'm only 21 and trying to put myself through college.

Do you know who the builder of the car is ?
If they are still in business they will help you. If not.................................
Replacement glass can be obtained at MTG ( Modern Technologies Group ) or failing that
Infinite innovations, they both have web sites.
Best of luck.
