Hi, I imported a 180 stetched by great lakes, Im having big trouble getting it registered in the uk. This is the question being asked, its so difficult trying to answer these questions ? I have written to Rikki at Great lakes hoping he will answer these questions, but if not i dont know what im going to do. Has anyone else had the same problem or can help?

""Evidence is required from either the vehicle manufacturer or the vehicle converter that proves the vehicles Axle’s, (including hubs), hub bearings, wheel studs, wheels and suspension are capable of carrying the increased weight. This evidence should be in the form of Test and Evaluation reports on the components concerned. If modifications have been carried out to any OE components, or if components have been replaced with ‘heavy duty’ units (e.g. suspension arms, springs, axles etc) , evidence will be required detailing as to how these modified or replaced components can be identified on the vehicle"".

any advise is much much appricated
thanks loren

O.K., if my memory serves me right, Ultra ( along with Legendary and Crafsmen ) had a 180 Town car crash tested and had an article printed in one of the mags, anyone on here got a copy as the test report will give this guy the details he requires.
There is another problem though and that concerns U.K. legislation on passenger numbers, they will be most reluctant to allow registration of a vehicle that has more than eight passenger seats as that is the limit here, PLUS starting 1st Jan if you have a vehicle with more than 8 pass seats you will have to have a speed limiter fitted whether or not you carry only 8, this will form part of the test your vehicle has to go through !

Thanks for your reply ! im hoping some one does have that artical cause that would solve my main problem. This car is stretched by Great Lakes not Ultra, has Great Lakes crash tested a 180" ?

As for the other problem suggested
even tho the title states the car is a 12 seater, when you look inside there only appears to be 8 seats, and I am only expecting to register it as an 8 seater, so I recon the guys here will over look that.

I have had the car a year and it still is not registered due to mechanics letting me down, if I cant solve this problem, my only option is to send it back to Newark US, which I really dont want to do. http://limos.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Lets take a look at a few details here, is the car on a 418 package ? As a rough guide take a look at the rear brakes, if they are drum as opposed to discs then the car is most probably a Limo package car ( 418) in which case you can refer vosa to the specs on Limo's they have already passed for use here, if its not then you have a problem and may have to upgrade the car, in that scenario I would be reluctant to do so myself and cut my losses by selling the car into Europe or back to the states. Great Lakes ( as far as I'm aware ) is still in business and should be able to confirm which chassis your car was built on ( and whether they made an upgrade to suspension etc ), a search on your computer should yield an email address. Great Lakes did not crash test a 180".
If you want or need any further detail you can contact me via my website at www.llimo.com (http://www.llimo.com)

Hi

Im still having trouble finding the information needed to use this car on the road. Can anyone else help?

Question officals in the UK are asking.

Thanks in advance loren
