I remember US used to have a rust-out problem, anyone have recent news? I am currently looking at a '99 6-pax and have some reservations about the US product.

Don't do it Matt!! http://limos.com/graemlins/nono.gif Let it go, unless you want to me married to your body shop. http://limos.com/graemlins/cheers.gif

I'd like to see the posts on this folder be kept to fact based ones. Opinions are great Harpo, but can you elaborate on the details behind your comments?

Thanks Harpo.

As for facts Tex;
Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong but the US I remember had serious problems with paint blistering and rust on every panel that wasn't Ford's. There were also problems with cheep interior components.

My only personel experience was with one of their sales people in the mid 90's that netted me the loss of an acquizition deal. I didn't buy the guy's car so he spread rumors that to company in question was for sale and the owner backed out. That person is not with their company anymore but the bad taste will never leave. It was just a nasty thing to do that was unnecessary.

In hind-sight I'm real glad I didn't buy that '95 from them, that is the very model I remember having all the problems. Additionally, the local competiter went under a few months later. As they did, I invested about 10% of the acquizition money in local advertising and got most of the company anyway.

To give US the benifit of the doubt I was wondering more if they had addressed the problems they had early on, I think '95 was their first or second year.

I'd be happy to Tx. I owned a 2000 T/C that was rusting at the seams. On both sides of the center body panels there were rust spots the size of soft balls. My body shop repaired it twice and US COACH did the final repair last year. To their defense I must add that after they repaired it, and from what the new owner of the limo tells me, the rust has not come back. Time will tell. Hence my comment about about being married to yur body shop. If my 2000 was poorly prepped & painted, then i can imagine how their craftsmenship was in previous years. http://limos.com/graemlins/cheers.gif

On a sidenote, Matt i saw your Dad at the LANJ meeting yesterday. I was about two tables away and noticed him when he stood to announce his name and company. Didn't get a chance to speak with him but he seems like a great guy. http://limos.com/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks Harpo, I've always thought so too; I wish you'd had a chance to chat. Sounds like the insurance deal is going to save us all enough to make it worth while. It's great to have a good association, and even better to to hear that you were there!

Anyone else have input or details on US Coachworks?

I am in discussion with the owner of a '99 model. There is only 1 small bubble near the window.
