I opened up a limousine business in the Hagerstown, MD area in September 1999. I have ads in all the local Yellow Pages, I've put brochures in all the local hotels, and there are also ads in the local circulars. The problem is, how do I boost my sales even more? I'm talking about corporate contracts, more weddings, etc. I also have a service new to the area called a New Mothers Service, where I take new moms and their babies home from the hospital or birth center. How do I go about spreading the word about that one as well? Any comments can be replied to at thewho2@excite.com.

I too just started a limousine business back in Sept '99. One of the hardest tasks is getting your name out there. One of the best ways I have found, and cheapest too, is do some free work for a local radio station. When my local radio station gives away concert tickets I offer a free limo ride to and from the concert, in return the radio station gives me free advertisment, evertime they air about the ticket giveaway. I have found that it's alot cheaper to give a free nights work, than paying for radio advertisment. Make sure you work all details out before accepting the job. Most radio stations like to work with you because it makes them look much better to offer limousine service. Other good way to pick up weddings is attending a local Bridal Show. Also when you book a wedding, offer a discount to do their bachelor or bachelorette party. This should help you fill up your bookings. I would estimate that about 80% of my business comes from the local radio stations, which is why I'm booked solid for the next 3 months with weddings and bachelor/bachelorette parties. And always offer the best service around, because the Word of Mouth is the best.
