I am looking to start up a limo business in the DC Metro area. I am putting together a business plan and need several information. Especially working out cost.

Looking to start with a single stretch 120' and a sedan. What does insurance usually cost and are there any reliable sources I can contact.

Also is it better to buy a brand new limo or an 1-3 year old with extended warranties.

Also, if anyone has worked in this market before. As a start up would it be better to target the party crowd or the corporate crowd. Which may be more steady for a start up?

Insurance in the DC Metropolitan Area for start-ups:
STRETCH LIMOS:
$3500 to (the sky is the limit) for the 1.5 million you will need to get a WMATC permit, which you must have to work the DC/MD/VA commercial zone.

SEDANS:
$5000 to $15,000
This depends for the most part on your choice of cars, since as a start-up you will get hosed on rates. Consider it the initiation fee. Lincoln Town Cars are much cheaper to insure than Chrysler 300s.

If you are going to have sedans and stretches, target both the party and business travel segments. You have Reagan National, Dulles and BWI airports close-by. You also have Union Station in DC and the Baltimore Cruiseport.

In which state will your base of operations be?
