how creative - we're selling road shows again. Who can we depend on to tell us how many people pay to attend this occurrence? How about the NLA Treasurer, John Sinibaldi, who has all but disppeared from this forum lest somebody ask about NLA financial statements.

By the way, we are almost 5 months into the current fiscal year and NLA is somnolent. How many "paying" members are there, really. Where did Joey disappear to? Where is Guy? . . . long time passing. All working for TLPA, everyone, all working for TLPA.

If Matt can cheer, I guess I can set the theme to music.

when we aet out to kill certification, did anyone ever dream that when that veil was stripped away that NLA would slip so quietly beneath the waves to its watery resting place. Scott, Barbara, Tommy and Bob are like the band playing on the deck of the Titanic while everyone else is loading into lifeboats.

He tells me that the "NLA Day of Training" was a major success! They were concerned with the registration numbers but in the end there were 52 paid attendees, representing 37 companies. They signed up 6 new members and the NLA netted more than $2,500.

Here is a run down on what happened. First, the NLA is deeply grateful to the sponsors Universal Limousine and Create A Card. They picked up $2,000 of the room rental and lunch charge. (The NLA only paid $600) They also sent out more than a thousand direct mail pieces promoting the event and the NLA.

Bob Doria of Epic Loss Control Systems did a great practical class on training and recruiting chauffeurs. Barbara Pastelak and Tommy were joined by Scott Solombrino in the second session and we dealt with "How to Get More From Your Driving Staff." Barbara, Tom and Scott did a great job! They did a second session on "Marketing Your Service". The attendees were enthusiastic. The questions were on point.

Scott did a great 5 minute summary of why it is so important to be part of the NLA. Tom thought it was very much on point. They finished the day with Bob Crescenzo of Lancer and Ray Gooley of the Managing Agency Group. Tom facillitated a simple discussion on "The State of the Insurance Industry" as it relates to our industry.

The evaluations were almost 100% positive. Both sponsors said they are on board for any future programs of this type. It was a great experience. Thanks again to Scott, Barbara, Tom and Joe Cirruzzo who attended. Special thanks to Arthur Messina and Marian his assistant who handled registration and Renee Reese from our office who was invaluable in the planning of this event.

It's good to see the NLA doing this kind of thing for the new operator. I truly beleive that education for the new guy, and us old dogs, must be on going process. I'm thankful that we have an association that will work to improve the industry through education.
Keep up the good work!!! http://limos.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

sis, boom, rah . . .

Let me see if I get this straight - a couple of companies put up some big bucks to pay the expenses of the NLA so that others would pay the NLA to produce a bottom line of $2,500. Why didn't they just make a direct donation to NLA so that the staff could do something that benefits ALL members; but then the egos would not be massaged, would they.

And how much overhead and staff time, and salareis, were put in to this event to produce $2,500? Please, don't bore us with this drivel. This kind of business acumen will only hasten the demise of NLA. And by the way, what has been done for the members since February 1??????? Zip, nada, nothing, zero.

They did make a donation to the benifit of the entire membership. The sponsors contributed to the education of the membership. I for one am thankful there are newbees in my direct market area that will take the Time to educate themselves in the industry. To many new operators do not and become cut thoat adversaries.

I don't think the salaries change because of an event.

Please, don't bore us with this drivel.

Let's see....what was it you said.... oh I remember now, not a prayor!

This kind of business acumen will only hasten the demise of NLA.

Oh, I forgot, the NLA is doomed, Jim said so. We will see who laughs last big guy.

Thank god nobody must justify themselves to you. They've done lots, you refuse to see.

The purpose of the event was NOT to raise money. It was to give a member benefit by providing information. (The cost was $49, lunch alone cost us $27, not designed as a moneymaker.)

Do you think learning how to train a chauffeur or understanding how insurance rates are calculated is an important member benefit? I do! Do you think having Tom give you the fundamentals of marketing your service has value? Based on the response he gets from EVERY appearance, I think he brings immeasurable value.

Art Messina and Marian his assistant did 100% of the direct mailing. They manned the reservation booth. They collected the money, broke down the deposit and got the applications filled out.

No NLA staffer was present except Tom Mazza and very little time was taken up in house on this event. The NLA has signed up 131 new members since Feb 1 (less than 6 months, not bad for a dying ship) and after a Board approval on an upcomming conference call the financials will be up. The next "Day of Training" will be in Orlando on October 15th.

to hear this kind of crap and the people who believe it. Get smart, Matt. Membership applicants have to get published in the LimoScene. The two issues so far this year have less than half that number. Will NLA tell us how many non-renewals occurred in the same period for a net gain/loss - certainly the latter? Of course not. They won't even admit they're broke, let alone giving us financial information or tell us what goes on at any meeting of the directors, or even the members, for that matter.

As to the financials, don't hold your breath. This promise is right up there with, the "check is in the mail" and another such promise that I won't repeat here.

NLA can't even figure out that the ship is sinking.

By the way, Matt, I have a really nice bridge I'd like to sell - good Manhattan/Brooklyn location, a real landmark, and you can have it cheap. Perhaps you'd like some nice Florida real estate I have for sale especially for you. House would have to be built on stilts, but the view is magnificent. The price, one might say, is "immeasurable."

Jim, my ass is tired of your ass trashing the NLA.

However, this forum is here to voice opinion and if I must read you ass's opinion so be it. Please wipe up before you return, it stinks around here. http://limos.infopop.cc/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
