A few of us were joking about the Builders that don't get it today and we came up with a few new model names for their line of "fine" vehicles. 'The Cape Girardeau " "The Sikeston " "The East St. Louis" " The Nogales" , "The Des Moines" , " The North Little Rock", etc. etc.

Other names for the backyard builders models could be : " The Shreveport", "The Redondo" , "The Boise Special", "The Santa Clara Express ", " The Sharecropper " ( A very basic model for hustlers ), and " The Captain Hook ". ( a severe crime case unit )

For builders that are unable or inept relative to welding we offer: " The Salton Sea" model.

Dean, how about the company that used to make very long cars in C.A., we used to call them the "Bananna Express" models.........because they came pre-bent !

Or how about the "Welding Surprise " model...........The surprise being .......No welding ! Or the "Titanic" model........goes down well with the repair shop, but not the customers...........
because it never arrives due to ongoing repairs.

The Welding Surprise and the Bananna Express are superb names for lemon limousines made by those who always operate in the Shadows.

A.G. Thanks for the info ! We need everyone to speak up about the builders that are known as THE BACKYARD BUILDERS ASSOCIATION. Shysters chasing a crooked buck have no place in our Industry. Would you buy hamburger from the store that was full of worms ?

Too bad the NLA, LCT or Digest doesn't operate a published complaint hotline. Buy a stretch that is crap, report it & builder complaints are published for all to see & avoid. Of course this is risky business for these entities reliant on advertising $$$$.

I will post the phone numbers of NHTSA and the Limousine Industry Manufacturers Organization tomorrow. The mainstream print media is a great place to go if you were screwed and you can document your complaint with pictures. The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, U.S.A Today, the Associated Press, YOUR LOCAL PAPER-because the big boys will pick the beef up- are all super places to go nuclear against the merchants of malfeasance.

Thanks dean, i guess alot people think they see a good price and chase it. not caring for safety aspect or what could happen in a accident or to the people they are tranporting. alot people also think a limo is a limo and don't research it . they buy strictly on the price or i,m going to have the longest most seating availble.

I received information today that a builder is actually coming out with a CAPE GIRARDEAU Model. Should have more info soon. I wonder if they have a cardboard partition like some lower class QVM Builders do ?

I was reminded today of a builder that hadn't mastered partition technology back in 1978 so instead of a partition they had a curtain rod and a curtain ! Well-at least the partition never broke !!

Ask any builder you are considering for at least 15 references before you buy. If the salesman gets smart with you drop them from consideration. Call all references Then check them with L.I.M.O. and NHTSA . If you are still bothered then e-mail me at info@signaturelivery.com . I have been around for three decades and I will TELL YOU STRAIGHT. Don't buy a Cape Girardeau !!!!! Dean Schuler

Do you think that the Backyard Builders will ban together and request "their rights " to build poor product under the American Entitlement Act ?

Go to your local T.V station if you are so obviously screwed over like the car Limelight sold that operator in California. ( Grievances Site ) If that happened to me I would tie the owner to my pickup via rope and drag the sob around the block a few times. Hang "Em High !!!!!

When you are a little guy ( And we all started that way ) a coachbuilder screw-up CAN KILL YOU ! All of you who have problems please post them here and we will deal with your problems as an Industry. I could write 100,000 words on this post. But then-as Gunny says-I am "Elderly" and have seen 200 coachbuilders come and go... Hey ! I am just 52 with plenty of fight left in me. JUST REMEMBER THIS IN BUSINESS AND IN LIFE : NEVER ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS THAN THE BEST FOR YOURSELF !!!!!

Truth is stranger than life. We just located a backyard builder that used to build a Cape Girardeau model. More to follow after we send someone to his "plant". Probably a dump truck construction plant with a paint booth with flaps on it !
