I live in a area that has several wine regions within an hours drive. I have searched for a bus service that would service the area and there are none. I am toying with the idea of starting a business that would service just these areas, does this sound like a venture that be profitable?

LOL, I mean, is everone starting with buses now days?

You're in luck, there have been about three new threads started about buses and high-end passenger transportation start-ups in general.

The one and only rule:

Aside from planning like you have never planned before; listen to every word that these guys are nice enough to share with you free of charge and savor the information provided in their posts.

KBunch- Welcome to the forum!

First off, if you don't find any bus services in you area... is there a need for one?

Personally I would start out with an 11 passenger van first and see how that goes. Once you get over 15 pass, your insurance will skyrocket to close to $10,000 a year for a 5 million dollar policy.

Start out small and then grow. I would think that a 10 pass limo or van would work well. Try to stay under 15 pass as long as possible.

I run a 32 pass bus. There is a lot of hidden costs and fees that go with it. Keep your expensives very low for the first year while your feeling out your market. Increase/ decrease as your business dictates.

Your post was woefully lacking in detail to answer the question 'could the venture be profitable'.

Tell us a lot more, or better yet put together a business plan with demographics, expense and revenue estimates and help yourself answer the question. You know your area the best!
