For better interior numbers and in my opinion Better styling I would go with the ford Flex for 15K less if I was considering this class of vehicle for a fleet.

Aside from price difference, please explain why R-class MB turbodiesel is not superior.

Come on now a ford flex really. 15k less would you buy a crown victoria. Same difference. I still don't understand the royale fusion. Why a ford. Everybody goes by name brand. If you are dealing with high end clients its all about name.

Cant imagine asking a 6'3" CEO to climb into the back row of this and pretend he's comfortable.

I also hate middle row bucket seats.

For 1 - 3 passengers, I will stay with LTC EX L and stay with the Ford Expedtion EL's for 4 - 6.

If you are considering the MKT we have used one for a couple of weeks the third row is basically useless if you can get past the name the Flex is a better choice if you are stuck on Ford. The best option for that style vehicle is the R class Mercedes Benz with the BlueTec option we have one on order should be here soon

Mike...looking toward the future the Town car will be gone. I am just purely speculating.... but I feel this vehicle could be the perfect replacement for the Town Car. I feel it would have to be extended....but a good option...possibly the best option available to serve the Limo industry.

Remember....when 2012 comes around there will be no new vehicle for Livery. Ford will be taking something we currently have in our lineup. I feel this would be the perfect vehicle to convert because it provides an optional refrigeration unit for drinks in the rear , as well as a fresh new modern look.

So what type of car will Lincoln be stretching?

I know the TC will be gone, but I plan to replace all existing sedans with L cars in the last year made. That should give me until 2015 before I have to deal with this issue.

Remember....when 2012 comes around there will be no new vehicle for Livery. Ford will be taking something we currently have in our lineup. Is this known with certainty? I ask because you are a L/M dealer and thus are closer to FoMoCo's information pipeline than we lowly customers are. (I realize that St. Catherines is closing and taking its existing product lines with it.)

I'm sure we all devoutly hope that Lincoln does not go down the same road Cadillac went when it threw away the full-size luxury sedan market.
I feel this would be the perfect vehicle to convert because it provides an optional refrigeration unit for drinks in the rear , as well as a fresh new modern look.New and modern it undoubtedly is. In my opinion, refined and dignified it certainly is not.

It seems to me that the Town Car's principal attraction for business travelers is the fact that it is unobtrusive in appearance and substantial in usable space. Lincoln will need to retain or intensify these attributes if they want to retain or intensify market share.

Additionally, it needs to be stretchable. :(

Had an MB salesman try to put me onto one a couple of years ago before fuel prices went through the roof.

Am especially concerned about how diesel operations work out in cold weather like we both have. :drivingskid:

I asked the Ford/Lincoln rep at the last GCLA meeting he was very vague. However I heard the replacement could be based on the new Ford Taurus platform. I told the rep to keep it basic, low horsepower " Under 300hp ". Also try to stick with the rear wheel drive platform I don't think AWD is a need for our industry. Hopefully he took some of my ideas seriously we'll see.

Why wouldn't awd be a good option. They should use the eco boost motor.

Charles AWD is an option as well as Eco-Boost in the MKT.

Those 2 options probably equal the most exspensive version. I was at lincoln today. They are sweet looking. The r class has more wow I'm in a mercedes.
